Well, here's a small, yet very useful and informative teaser on different things and concepts about Alagaesia.
To begin, we'll start with the Vocation Info:
- Simplified:
- Non-Dragon Rider Path: Farm Boy/Farm Girl -> Magician Apprentice -> Magician -> Archmage
- Dragon Rider Path: Farm Boy/Farm Girl -> Magician Apprentice -> Dragon Rider -> Elite Dragon Rider
- Detailed:
General Info:
At the beginning of the game, you start off as a mere Farm boy, doing tasks for locals, playing around with bows, wooden swords, etc. on your free time. Later on, you discover something [will not be spoiled] and you meet someone who teaches you the ways of the old, magic. And then comes the a choice that will alter the path your life leads on. You either choose one that will lead you on a perilous quest to the spine, in which you soon come to find yourself a Dragon-Rider-to-be or if you choose the other path, you are sent on a large travel to meet a person of arcane excellence in magic.
Vocations:
- Magician: A Magician is a mortal human who has learned the way of the old, Magic. Their focus skill is their magic level, and so their melee skills aren't as good. Later on, when you have exceeded the expectations of your "Master," he then promotes you to an Archmage and sends you on a journey to find a new teacher.
- Dragon Rider: A Dragon Rider [Rider for short] is one whom a Dragon Egg hatched too, infusing magical veins into your body and becoming one with your dragon in Spirit and Mind [not physically though]. They are swift and strong in their melee skills and their magic is strong, though not as strong as a magicians. Later, you can quest yourself to become an Elite Dragon Rider if the Elves approve of it.
Similarities:
- Distance skills are the same in both vocations
Differences:
- A Magician's mana regains faster than a Dragon Rider and is stronger
- Dragon Riders are superior in Melee
- Dragon Riders get a Dragon / Magicians can learn sorcery and summon monsters
